The Summer Musical Theater School

The 5th Avenue Theatre offers a unique and exciting training experience designed for the aspiring middle or high school musical theater performer. The Summer Musical Theater School offers young performers the special opportunity to gain insight into the life of the musical theater artist as well as build the confidence necessary to be a successful performer. During this inspiring two-week experience, students will develop the skills and techniques used by Broadway performers. All classes, studio workshops and master classes are taught by theater artists with extensive professional credits at nationally recognized musical theater companies, on Broadway and at The 5th Avenue Theatre.
We offer two wonderful opportunities for students, ages 11-19: a Middle School and a High School.
- Middle School for ages 11 -13: 10:00am-2:00pm or 2:00pm-6:00pm. Students will take classes in dance, voice and acting for musical theater.
- High School for ages 14-19: 10:00am-6:00pm. Students will take classes in dance, voice and acting for musical theater and participate in afternoon master classes and studio workshops.
Summer Musical Theater Professional Training Intensive

The 5th Avenue Theatre offers a three-week Professional Training Intensive for students ages 16-19. This creative and challenging intensive will provide students seriously considering a career on the stage the opportunity to work with professional directors, choreographers and music directors. Fully immersing themselves in the craft, students will work in depth on scenes, learn the songs and choreography of a musical by Stephen Sondheim. Students in the Professional Intensive will also participate in classes in dance, vocal technique, song interpretation and scene study.
Acceptance into the Professional Training Intensive is by audition only and space is limited to 20 students. Auditions will be held approximately two months prior to the course. Audition Date: TBA. Pre-requisite: Students in the Professional Intensive must have attended Summer Musical Theater School in a previous year.
*The 5th Avenue Theatre does not provide housing for School or Professional Intensive participants
