Cabaret
Rating: PG-13
Cabaret is an adult musical; it is not appropriate for young children. It is set in Germany just before the advent of Hitler's Third Reich. Much of the action takes place in a seedy establishment called the Kit Kat Klub, whose performers’ songs and dances are frequently sexually suggestive. The play's two main characters, Sally Bowles, a cabaret performer, and Cliff, a writer, live together in a boarding house. It's implied that their neighbor, Fraulein Kost, is prostituting herself to sailors; their landlady, Fraulein Schneider, is having an affair with a Jewish man, Herr Schultz, whom she wants to marry. Near the end of the story, Sally becomes pregnant and she must decide whether to elope with Cliff to America.
