We have exciting plans as our historic theater rounds the corner to its 90th Anniversary—including 36 years as one of the nation’s leading musical theater companies. We listened when you told us what you want most when you walk through our doors. Here are the highlights of the improvements completed in Summer 2016 and our plans for future renonvations:
As Seattle’s premier home for musical theater, we know that clear music and sound are critical to the audience’s enjoyment and understanding of every production. Our new state-of-the-art digital sound system replaced the previous 36-year-old analog system.
We replaced the old, worn lobby carpet with new carpet that replicates the original design from 1926. We also updated our current restrooms so they are more inviting and need fewer repairs.
We are finalizing negotiations with the University of Washington to lease a portion of the space adjacent to the south wall of the theater lobby. We will open up our current lobby into this new space to decrease congestion and allow for more mingling. This will allow us to build a grand staircase down to a lower concourse that will house expanded restroom facilities to decrease wait times and make intermission more relaxing. Our overall restroom capacity will increase by 16 new women’s restrooms, eight new men’s facilities, two new ADA restrooms, and one new family restroom.
We are pleased to announce that we have raised nearly $5 million from our Board of Directors, community leaders, government and foundation sources, and our subscribers. If you would still like to participate in The Next Stage Campaign, we are happy to show our appreciation by recognizing you on the permanent Anniversary Wall and extending exclusive benefits to make your experience at The 5th even more fun.
We are pleased to offer the following special opportunities designed to enhance your theater-going experience and recognize your support.
